Plantar Fasciitis can and does cause severe heel and foot pain. Plantar Fasciitis is commonly associated with severe heel pain with the initiation of walking after rising from bed or a seated position. Individuals with Plantar Fasciitis classically have to walk on their toes for the first several steps to avoid pressure to the heel. Once activity has begun the pain usually is reduced. Plantar Fasciitis can be caused by trauma, athletic activities, repetitive activities and also poor foot biomechanics: such as foot pronation or flat feet. Dr. Glen Batson, of Batson Chiropractic of Willowbook, successfully treats Plantar Fasciitis by using Chiropractic Manual Manipulation of the foot and ankle joints, K-Laser Therapy, and Foot Levelers custom foot orthotic devices. The foot and ankle consists of 26 separate bones, encompassing 33 joints with many muscles, tendons, and ligaments allowing proper bio-mechanical function and support.
