BMA Continues to Support PROJECT H.O.O.D.

In 2011, Pastor Brooks noticed that the motel across the street from his New Beginnings Church had become a hub for violence, drug dealing and prostitution.

He decided to take back their neighborhood. To raise awareness Pastor Brooks lived on the roof of that model for more than three months, enduring a harsh Chicago winter.

At the end of 94 days, he raised $450,000. The money was used to purchase and demolish the motel, making room for a future community center for:

• Job-Skill Training, Entrepreneurial and Employment Resources
• Violence Prevention and Trauma Counseling
• Education, Youth Programs and Mentorship
• Community Health and Wellness Services

​Over the past 10 years $11 million in cash & pledges have brought Project H.O.O.D. a third of the way to their $35 million goal and ground breaking. #BeTheChange
